The Independence Project is a platform with open-source websites working synergistically to provide turnkey solutions for community-owned businesses, projects and initiatives. Using decentralized technologies, our solutions will redefine what you and we can do together to reinvent business models, realize social impact, and reform democracy for the future.
Blockchain technology forms the soul of The Independence Project. At a fundamental level, our project is geared to find solutions that seek independence from central authority, because we believe that centralization of power is the single greatest impediment to the working of a democracy.
Today, distrust is a powerfully disturbing word. Governments cannot trust the public, and the public have little trust in their elected representatives. The process of building trust (or, building it back) is mostly a foregone conclusion, since every democracy by design takes this trust for granted. And by so doing, takes us (the public) for granted.
We do not think that governments are acting in our best interests when they take us for granted, and governments are increasingly vigilant of popular agitations that decry their authority.
Far from deterring us, this brings us together to reflect on the crisis with a fresh and clear perspective. The Independence Project forum presents the perfect platform to voice our concerns, engage in creative discussions and inspire new ways of thinking forward.
We are asking you to participate in this unique project to save and, perhaps even, reconstitute democracy for the future.
Like all things, democracy too can get old and outdated. In fact, it has.
The time has come to reimagine democracy in a manner that rediscovers the concept as laid down by our Founding Fathers. Democracy today is only so by name. Our analysis of the crisis in democracy from 12 different perspectives has led to 12 unique solutions.
But these are not just ours. They are for all of us.
That is why, we are asking you to tell us about what you think.
Do you believe in the potential of these solutions?
Do you believe they have the capability of restructuring democracy? Can you think of other ways?

How to do away with inequality and distrust in a system that seems to au tomatically breed them ? The answer is true democracy and a decentralized economy. The idea of eliminating distrust by closing the gap between people and their governments means that people fully and finally own the latter. And this is possible only when government as a
central authority has ceased to exist.
At Independence, we project such a possibility: a world where the control is finally restored to the 99%, and the only self-governing authority is a fully decentralized technology called blockchain.
We own domains — two of which are already actively engaged in realizing our vision — not defined by their unique names, but their distinctive pursuits. Each of these domains is a building block for a reified democracy, and the way we construct them will ultimately determine the sheer breadth of this project and the strength of our vision.
We are open to your ideas and inputs on how to build these domains, how they should perform, and how to ensure their effectiveness.
We do not have all the answers. But we do know this: together, we can do wonders. So let’s put our creativity at test today, for the stakes have never been higher.
VA.org, our first Beta Project, is designed to empower veterans with employment and business opportunities via the setting-up of an advocacy platform, a blockchain-based social media platform and an incredible resources platform. In addition to our website being the go-to for everything veterans need: from loans and insurance to benefits and compensation, va.org hosts a variety of subdomains that cater to specific business verticals, while establishing unique partnerships among these to help veterans access skills, products, and emerging markets. In all of these, our commitment to bring veterans together, and creatively empower them to face common and specific challenges remains paramount.
Our second Beta Project, called djiboutian.com, is an action group committed to democracy in Djibouti.
Our aim is to actualize democracy in Djibouti via blockchain and other decentralized technologies — the first such implementation on a national scale, but one that would be drawn from prior experimentations in Sierra Leone and Colombo.
This is to be accomplished via the setting-up of:
A loving dad and a suffering humanist, The Independence Project started as my way of negotiating independence from the way the world seems to work. Although this was in some ways the result of the system has failed me, it did reinstate my faith in the
transformational possibility of technology; so much so that I began to shift focus from real estate to the virtual space. A
seasoned risk-taker by profession, here I felt for the first time that I would be taking risks also for the sake of my children, and for all of ours. Consequently, the success of such sustainable business models as va.org, independence.org and investment.net
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
